Rock, Punk and Metalcore Collide on Remember The Monsters’ War of Attrition | Crannk Reviews

That Mix of Rock and Punk, What a Day!

Alternative hard rock and metalcore band Remember The Monsters have dropped their explosive new work, War of Attrition, and it hits with a blend of rock, punk, metalcore, and modern cinematic energy.

The thirty-minute album weaves that true metalcore sound around you, showing how the band’s evolution over the years has kept creativity alive while still ensuring the music carries a strong modern feel.

Since starting in 2016, Remember The Monsters have built their name through eleven singles, two covers, one EP, and now their first full-length album. Known for cinematic soundscapes, emotional intensity, and hard-hitting anthems, the band has grown through lineup changes, creative reinvention, and some killer collaborations along the way.

War of Attrition definitely has bangers, covers, and tracks that keep you on your toes.

Remember The Monsters are built around Ashten Banks, the lead guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter, alongside Andrew De Neef as lead singer, Dominic Ruiz holding it down on rhythm guitar, Elias Mallin delivering the beautiful drumwork, and last but definitely not least, Sean Mott on bass.

What a great blend. So many different experiences coming together.

With collaborations involving producer Matt Good of Asking Alexandria and Hollywood Undead fame, plus recent features from artists connected to Nerv, From First To Last, Paul Bartolome, Jay Gordon of Orgy, and even writing with former Asking Alexandria guitarist Ben Bruce, Remember The Monsters clearly aren’t afraid to push their sound in every direction they can.

Haunted

“Haunted” has such a great sound. For me, it really holds that alternative rock energy with roots of pop-punk shining through.

I feel like this song genuinely blends the band’s sound and goal: emotional intensity.

“Haunted” moves from soft drumming into a harder guitar sound, while that soul-hitting voice speaks directly to you. Honestly? Very 2000s, in the best way.

Amazing.

Hostage

“Hostage” is where melody and rock really hit home.

The long, drawn-out bass and another set of touching vocals help spin the track into a more modern sound. Andrew De Neef is truly phenomenal here.

Even compared to R.T.M’s previous work, this track keeps a twist of aggression that feels absolutely needed. Opening with that guitar whirr that pulls you in closer, then dropping into a low bass groove, it sweetens the song enough to make it my favourite on the album.

Overall, War of Attrition is definitely a good listen. It is engaging from start to finish, packed with strong covers, original tracks, and a clear balance of everything that makes Remember The Monsters who they are.

For sure, good for all.

Thanks for your great work, Remember The Monsters.
