Suspended Animation give you exactly what they advertise, a three track EP. But those three tracks are so full of metal goodness that you wish it spilled out into another few songs. I feel this is just a sign of things to come. A taste before we eat, if you like. Whether your taste is clean vocals or the darkest of unholy growls, Suspended Animation delivers punch after deathly punch of metalcore madness.
Suspended Animation aren’t here to fuck around, they’re here to deliver a clear message. That message? We’re just getting started.
In my opinion, each song has a slightly different sound and feel to it, showcasing their roots and influences. Careful What You Say is a song that’ll burn your ears off if you listen to it too many times in a row through its sheer ferocity. No One shows off a little bit of a rap influence to begin with, then builds into an absolute banger, while War begins with a war drum cadence and quickly becomes its own war cry.
Each song shows off a different side of Suspended Animation, and when it all comes together, it moulds into a monolith of metal, ready to take on Australia, and then the world.
When listening to a three song EP there’s only so much you can take from it, so it has to be good to be able to catch the listener’s attention. The Three Track EP by Suspended Animation caught my attention for all the right reasons.
A bright future awaits Jorrin, Bobby, Nick, James and Hayden, and their live shows go right the fuck off. Give Suspended Animation’s Three Track EP a crack. Their potential is limitless, and they are poised to catapult themselves into the metal zeitgeist, hitting the heights they were born to ascend to.
Great start Suspended Animation, now comes the time to smash every stage you play on and get your music out there. This EP is a great start to a much anticipated future, and personally, I hope you continue to kick ass and take names, because the South Australian metal scene is bursting at the seams with talent, and that, my friends, is a damn good thing.
But it’s something I would never have known had I not gone out to local gigs and talked to these bands myself. It’s the best way to get your fix of the best metal in the country, and if I may suggest, if you get the opportunity, go and see Suspended Animation live on a stage near you. I promise, they will blow you the fuck away.
