My Body To The Worms Review: Mammon’s Throne Deliver Doom Sludge Power

Introducing Mammon’s Throne’s brand new album My Body To The Worms, released March 13 via Hammerheart Records.

Coming from the heart of Australia’s coast and delivering a record jam-packed with that OG doom x sludge sound, I introduce Mammon’s Throne and their brand new album My Body To The Worms.

Whether you’ve heard of MT before or this is your first time hearing the name Mammon’s Throne, My Body To The Worms is guaranteed to hook you within the first five seconds of listening. In my personal opinion, this record is dirtier, heavier and sludgier than any of Mammon’s Throne’s previous work.

With seven tracks, you’re in for an emotional 42 minutes. Each track pulls elements from genres we all know and adore — from gothic piano melodies to hate-fuelled guitar riffs. It’s definitely a unique record, and one that NEEDS to be heard by everyone.

It’s been tried and tested by yours truly — the elements are so diverse. Having a bad day at work? BLAST “Senseless Death” and whatever negative emotions you were feeling will dissipate quickly. Need a song to help with that spring clean? Listen to “Elixir.” It’s so melodic AND heavy you’ll be too busy headbanging to realise you’ve just finished folding laundry (true story). Need a song so beautiful you’ll start crying for some undisclosed reason? Try “Departed” (again, true story).

This album is remarkably good, however in all fairness… were we expecting any less?

Mammon’s Throne have cultivated their sound and honed in on what makes them thrive within the metal community — that alone deserves respect. The evolution in their music is undeniable, and it comes as no surprise that they’ve made a name for themselves.

Only debuting in 2018 and already showing such skill in blending genres, Mammon’s Throne feel like they’re hand-carving the way for new-age death x doom — something clearly highlighted in My Body To The Worms.

This album delivers everything Mammon’s Throne promised and more. It’s always refreshing to hear what our scene is generating — even more so when a band refuses to stay comfortable and continues pushing themselves creatively, redefining who they are without losing what they’ve built.

If you have a friend, family member, co-worker, pet or even your brother-in-law who swears metal is nothing but noise — play them this record. I don’t care if you hate each other, this album needs to be heard by the masses.

It will convert people to the darker, more extreme side of metal.
