For some artists, music is escape.
For Eva Under Fire, it is confrontation, healing, and empowerment all at once.
Led by vocalist and licensed therapist Amanda Lyberg, the Detroit outfit have built their identity around turning emotional scars into strength, crafting songs that do not shy away from pain but instead give it a voice.
Now the band enter their next chapter with the announcement of their new album Villainous, set for release July 10 via Better Noise Music. The record follows their 2022 debut Love, Drugs & Misery and continues to explore themes of mental health, identity, and resilience.
To mark the announcement, Eva Under Fire have released the album’s title track “Villainous,” along with a powerful music video featuring Maria Brink of In This Moment.
Two Voices, One Message
“Villainous” blends industrial textures with hard rock grit, pulling influence from late 90s and early 2000s sounds while delivering a modern edge. The track is driven by the dynamic vocal interplay between Lyberg and Brink, creating a powerful back and forth that amplifies the song’s message of reclaiming identity.
Lyberg describes the track as a statement of defiance.
“They thought I would always be compliant, but they pushed me too far. I make my own rules now. Standing up for myself and owning my truth leaves me looking like a villain to those I have left behind.”
For Lyberg, the collaboration with Maria Brink represents a full circle moment.
“I have been a Maria Brink fan for years so this is huge for me. Her vocal on this track gives it the energy it needed. Two fierce women on a hard rock track about taking your power back just made sense.”
Brink also spoke about joining the project.
“I am excited to be a part of ‘Villainous.’ When I first heard the song and saw the video, I knew right away I wanted to be involved. I can’t wait for everyone to experience both the music and the visuals.”
More Than Music

In line with the themes explored on the album, Eva Under Fire have partnered with To Write Love On Her Arms during Mental Health Awareness Month, adding a donation feature to the “Villainous” video.
The organisation is dedicated to supporting people struggling with depression, addiction, self injury, and suicide, offering resources and hope for those navigating difficult experiences.
Lyberg explains why the partnership felt natural.
“Those are the same demons being fought in the ‘Villainous’ video so it is honestly a perfect fit. I am excited to give back to an organisation that is actually doing the work.”
The fundraiser will remain active through the end of May.
A Band Finding Its Voice
Since the release of Love, Drugs & Misery in 2022, Eva Under Fire have continued to evolve both musically and emotionally, leaning further into their identity as a band that merges heavy music with real world themes.
With Villainous, they are not just building on that foundation. They are amplifying it.
This is not about masking pain.
It is about confronting it.
Owning it.
And turning it into something powerful.
