With “The Great Wolf In The Sky”, Moonspell deliver a sweeping gothic anthem built on expansive keys, harmonised guitars, dramatic vocals and a guest appearance from Alicia Nuhro on strings. The song carries that unmistakable Moonspell atmosphere, full of darkness, melody and emotional weight.

For frontman Fernando Ribeiro, the track is deeply tied to one of Moonspell’s most enduring symbols: wolves. He describes it as a return to a theme very dear to the band, while also connecting the past, present and future of Moonspell. There is a sense of mourning, memory and flight throughout the song, with Ribeiro also dedicating it to a fan and friend who passed away before hearing the new album.

Far From God was born out of five years of creative searching, doubt and rediscovery. Rather than chasing modern trends, Moonspell lean back into the heart of gothic metal with an album that feels dark, romantic, dramatic and unapologetically heavy.

Thematically, Far From God moves through Baudelairian love, guilt, redemption, resurrection, vampires, werewolves and sacred symbolism. These are not used as empty gothic decoration, but as vessels for genuine emotion, beauty and darkness.

Produced with Jaime Gomez Arellano, known for his work with Paradise Lost, Sólstafir and Ghost, Far From God reconnects with the darker spirit of Moonspell’s classic era while still sounding powerful and contemporary.

This feels less like nostalgia and more like a band rediscovering their own bloodline.

Temperance Announce Arcani And Release The Devil: Sin, Sin, Sin

Italian symphonic power metallers Temperance have announced their seventh album Arcani, set for release on October 16, 2026 via Napalm Records.

Structured around the divinatory practice of Tarot, Arcani sees each song connected to a different card from the Major Arcana deck. It is not presented as a direct concept album, but the Tarot framework gives the record a strong narrative identity and allows Temperance to explore symbolism, emotion and transformation across thirteen new tracks.

The first single, “The Devil: Sin, Sin, Sin”, focuses on the Devil card, the fifteenth trump of the Major Arcana. The song carries a darker undertone while still delivering the kind of massive chorus, dramatic instrumentation and multi vocalist power that Temperance are known for.

Marco Pastorino says the band wanted to begin the journey into Arcani with a new metal anthem for their upcoming setlists, asking fans if they are ready to “fall into sin”.

Across Arcani, Temperance build on their trademark blend of symphonic grandeur, melodic metal, soaring vocals and heavy guitar work. The album also includes some of the most personal lyrics of their career, with group recording sessions helping bring the band even closer together.

Songs including “The Fool”, “The Magician: Into The Fire”, “Death: Right Before We Die”, “The Tower: Lean Into Fear”, “Temperance: Forgiveness”, “The Chariot: Alla Ricerca dell’America”, “Justice: Balance” and “The World” each pull from the symbolism of Tarot while letting the band stretch into new shades of power metal, hard rock, opera and symphonic metal.

For fans of melodic metal with grand arrangements, big hooks and a strong sense of story, Arcani is shaping up as a major release for Temperance.

Led by mastermind and vocalist Felix Heldt, better known as Dr. Dead, Dominum continue to expand their dark theatrical world with another huge modern metal anthem. “Night Is Calling” brings together thunderous riffs, cinematic atmosphere and a massive singalong hook, with a guest appearance from Marina La Torraca of Battle Beast adding even more power to the track.

Dominum have quickly built a strong presence across the European metal scene. Their 2024 album The Dead Don’t Die landed in the German top 10, and the band have taken their undead spectacle to major stages alongside Bruce Dickinson, Avantasia, Battle Beast and Peyton Parrish.

With Night Is Calling, Dominum push further into theatrical, melodic and uncompromising modern metal. The album expands the band’s universe with heavier riffs, sharper lyrics, bigger choruses and more cinematic drama.

Produced by Felix Heldt and mixed by Jacob Hansen, Night Is Calling includes festival-ready anthems like “The Circus Is In Town”, “Doctor Doctor”, “Dark Melodies” and the title track featuring Battle Beast.

Dominum have always leaned into horror aesthetics and grand performance, but this new chapter feels bigger, bolder and more confident. The Living Dead Squad is still growing.

Samael Head Into A New Era With Hail To The Sun

Swiss industrial black metal icons Samael have released their new single “Hail To The Sun”, continuing the new era that began in 2025 with “Black Matter Manifesto”.

Watch the official video for “Hail To The Sun” here:

Formed in 1987, Samael are one of the most enduring and influential forces in extreme metal. With landmark releases like Worship Him and Passage, they helped reshape the darker corners of heavy music through their blend of black metal, industrial force and symphonic grandeur.

“Hail To The Sun” is heavy, grand and rhythmically imposing, carrying the kind of dark precision that has always made Samael stand apart. The track deals with overcoming adversity and taking chances, built around a stomping momentum that feels both apocalyptic and strangely uplifting.

The band describe the song as an anthem for troubled times, built around the shared presence of the sun and the way it is experienced differently by every person.

Nearly four decades into their journey, Samael remain a band capable of sounding massive, relevant and completely their own.

With Venceremos, Villagers Of Ioannina City deliver their most ambitious and conceptually driven work to date. The album blends heavy rock, progressive metal, folk textures and Hellenic instrumentation into a raw and immersive journey through resistance, fear, exile and awakening.

Set in a dystopian future shaped by illusion and control, Venceremos follows those who rise against a broken world and reject modern kings in search of freedom and meaning.

The first single, “Ghosts In The Sky”, is driven by epic guitars, pulsing basslines and layered traditional instrumentation. It builds a dense and immersive atmosphere where heavy rock meets ritualistic psychedelia.

The band describe the track as a vessel carrying hopes and dreams, a call to stand together in the face of fear and believe in change even when the world says it will not come.

Produced and recorded by Alex Karametis at Magnanimous X Studio in Greece, and mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen at Hansen Studios, Venceremos looks set to push Villagers Of Ioannina City further into heavy, direct and intense territory while keeping their identity firmly intact.

Bagpipes, zourna, ritualistic rhythms and expansive arrangements are not just added decoration here. They are part of the band’s language.

For fans of heavy prog, post stoner rock and music that feels like a journey, this one should be firmly on the radar.

Gloryhammer Announce Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath

Power metal titans Gloryhammer have announced their fifth album Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath, due for release on October 16, 2026 via Napalm Records.

The album is a direct sequel to 2015’s Space 1992: Rise Of The Chaos Wizards, continuing the saga of the McFife dynasty. This time, the story follows Angus McFife V, the Crown Prince of Fife last seen in the 2022 single “Fly Away”, as he journeys across spacetime into the distant future of 1993.

Pre-order Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath via Napalm Records.

Across eleven tracks, Gloryhammer pull from a wider range of influences than ever before, moving through classic power metal, thrash, high energy synth rock and vast orchestral soundscapes without losing the huge hooks and memorable songwriting that define the band.

Produced by the band and mixed by Jacob Hansen, Space 1993: Wrath Of Kor-Virliath promises another wild chapter in the ongoing intergalactic battle for Dundee.

Multidimensional wormholes, abandoned space stations and epic battles await.

For the Eternal Glory of Dundee.

Amberian Dawn Release Moon From Temptation’s Gates

Temptation’s Gates marks the first Amberian Dawn album with new vocalist Nicole Willerton, and the band are using this new era to move in a heavier and more modern direction while still keeping the epic keyboard driven melodic metal that has long defined them.

“Moon” shows a darker and more haunting side of the band. The song brings blast beat intensity, prominent keyboard and guitar solos and, for the first time in Tuomas Seppälä’s career, growling vocals within the arrangement.

Tuomas says the track carried a dark atmosphere from the beginning, and that Nicole’s intensity made the use of harsher vocals feel natural. Nicole describes the song as being about hope, tranquility and inner peace in a world full of destruction, greed and suffering.

The moon becomes a guiding light, a reminder to hold onto beauty, nature and freedom of spirit even when the world feels overwhelming.

With Temptation’s Gates, Amberian Dawn step through the door into a reborn version of the band. The classic elements remain, but there is a new spark, new weight and a stronger focus on emotional depth.

Frozen Crown Begin A Darker Journey With The One

Italian power metallers Frozen Crown have released “The One”, the first single from their upcoming album The Legend Of The Six Kings, due October 2, 2026 via Napalm Records.

Inspired by twentieth century fantasy literature, especially J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord Of The Rings, “The One” introduces Frozen Crown’s darker and more narrative driven new chapter.

The band describe the single as a new beginning, one that shows a more wicked side of Frozen Crown. Vocalist Giada “Jade” Etro takes on a more sinister role, claiming the throne and the literal frozen crown as the band bring their fantasy world to life.

The Legend Of The Six Kings is the band’s sixth album and their second on Napalm Records. Across ten tracks, Frozen Crown sharpen their heavy power metal sound into a darker, more direct and story driven form.

The record continues the saga that began with their debut album The Fallen King, expanding the world of the Kings and the Tyrant with new visuals, a stronger narrative focus and an empowered sound.

Expect grand choruses, heavy riffs, symphonic colour, speed metal fire and moments of melodic death metal intensity, all while still sounding unmistakably like Frozen Crown.

IGNEA Announce Monumental And Release Dreams Of Lands Unseen

Ukrainian modern metal band IGNEA have released “Dreams Of Lands Unseen”, the first single from their upcoming album Monumental, out October 23, 2026 via Napalm Records.

Watch the official video for “Dreams Of Lands Unseen” here:

Pre-order Monumental here:
lnk.to/Ignea-Monumental/napalmrecords

“Dreams Of Lands Unseen” shares its name with IGNEA’s 2023 album, but this new single pushes into a different emotional and conceptual space. The track explores the Cold War race to space, a period when humanity projected its dreams, ideology and ambition into the cosmos.

Musically, the song bursts forward with driving riffs, fierce growls, shimmering keys and theremin solos that bring a clear 1980s sci-fi atmosphere.

Vocalist Helle Bohdanova says the song is about ambition and illusion, where space was not only an escape but also a conquest shaped by ideology and dreams. The accompanying video was shot in black and white to capture the feeling of old science fiction rather than modern spectacle.

There is also a heavy real world weight behind the video. The cosmonaut costumes used were rented from the Oleksandr Dovzhenko National Film Studios in Kyiv. On the night of June 14 to 15, 2026, the studio was hit in a Russian strike, destroying the costume workshop and around 100,000 historical pieces from the archive. The same strike also damaged IGNEA’s own headquarters.

Monumental is the band’s second full length album written during the full scale war in Ukraine. Recording mostly took place in Kyiv during the winter of 2025 and 2026, through freezing conditions and long power outages.

The album explores nostalgia in all its forms, from the unrealised futures of modernist architecture and Cold War ambition to personal and collective memory. All lyrics were written by Helle Bohdanova, with music composed by keyboardist Yevhenii Zhytniuk and additional contributions from Helle.

Mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen, Monumental is shaping up as one of IGNEA’s most emotionally loaded and conceptually rich releases yet.

Napalm Records Keep The Heavy Coming

From the gothic darkness of Moonspell to the theatrical undead world of Dominum, the industrial force of Samael, the Tarot driven symphonic power of Temperance, the dystopian resistance of Villagers Of Ioannina City, the fantasy chaos of Gloryhammer and Frozen Crown, and the war shaped nostalgia of IGNEA, Napalm Records are once again covering a huge spread of heavy music.

This latest wave shows just how wide the heavy music world can be when bands lean fully into their own identity.

Darkness, fantasy, mythology, memory, rebellion, nostalgia, theatrical horror and pure power all have a place here.

And as always, CRANNK will be keeping an ear firmly on what comes next.
