Dwarves Deliver A Twenty Minute Punk Blast On Jenkem | Crannk Reviews

They may be Dwarves, but speedy outbursts are how they roll!

Dwarves have brought out their new album Jenkem, a fascinating, fast paced, mashed genre set of tracks to get your heart and head pumping. The Chicago band has spent many years producing and thrashing punk music since the 80s.

Punk in the 80s, the grunge era through the 90s, then back to their roots of punk with that twist of hardcore. Dwarves blend heavy metal, hardcore and punk into one proper woven story.

Jenkem has fourteen tracks, with only one song being over two minutes long! Capping the album at a twenty minute journey, it is good for being on the go, or even ready to go for you wild mad dogs. Each song has that fast paced essence, keeping you moving and grooving in true punk fashion. The mix in of thrash truly keeps one engaged for sure, ready to kick stuff with your boots.

This album has multiple funky videos to go with it, along with collectable 7 inches that flip to give you the full experience of all fourteen tracks. The guitar is groovy, the drums are catchy, with the twang of an impactful set of lyrics. Just woah! Jenkem really has special ties to something, having a specific sound and feel while staying fresh for all. I was ready to throw down in style, so I know y’all will be too!

Bad Drugs

This song was cool and funny to me, starting in that radio style, opening into a groove about, well, bad drugs!

Not only could I not stop humming the groove, but the lyrics would not leave my head as they had that specific tone. I love the grunge aspect. This track held very funky feels, and we appreciate it, you fun mystical men!

This song is unique, having the same type of sound as Jenkem yet having its own complete feel within everything else. “Bad Drugs” is only a minute and thirty four seconds, however it still leaves an absolutely crazy impression on you.

Just like a bad drug! Haha.

Dwarves have been around longer than Warhammer. First off, that is mental, but secondly, it gives them an insane amount of growth over time, having every finger dipped in all pools of experience. Being able to span, mix and slam together different sounds across an album like Jenkem takes hardcore skill.

Interesting pace and style is needed, but for Dwarves, they need it all! Fast paced, unique history and overall swag.

Great work lads, keen to throw my own hands and spin kick through the crowd.
