Ira Black Launches APOCÆLYPSE With Mind Melting Debut Single INTELL-I-GENTS

Veteran guitarist Ira Black has stepped into a bold new chapter with APOCÆLYPSE, a mind melting modern metal project that sees him moving beyond his already stacked legacy as a guitarist and taking full control as vocalist, songwriter and creative force.

Known for his work with Vio-Lence, Metal Church, I Am Morbid, Lizzy Borden and Westfield Massacre, Ira Black has long been a name respected by heavy music fans. But with APOCÆLYPSE, he is not just standing in the riff storm. He is building the whole machine.

The project has now unveiled its debut single and video “INTELL-I-GENTS”, the first glimpse into a forthcoming full length album expected later this year.

“INTELL-I-GENTS” hits as a statement of intent. This is not just a first single thrown out to test the waters. It feels like APOCÆLYPSE arriving with a fully formed vision, one that blends crushing modern metal, industrial weight, electronic pulse and cinematic atmosphere into something heavy, sharp and very much locked into the tension of the times we are living in.

The track digs into artificial intelligence, digital surveillance and the increasingly complicated relationship between humans and technology. It is futuristic, but not in a fantasy sense. This feels more like a warning flare fired directly into the present, asking how much control we are willingly handing over before we even realise what we have lost.

Speaking about the track, Ira Black says:

“Intell-I-Gents’ is my transmission from the edge of a world quietly handing its pulse to machines where convenience becomes consent and intelligence starts writing the rules we live by. I fused Industrial/ Metal weight with Electronic pulse to mirror that tension: a human heartbeat colliding with an algorithm that never sleeps. This song isn’t a warning from the future it’s a mirror held to right now, asking who’s really in control as we cross the line.

That quote sums up the heart of APOCÆLYPSE perfectly. This is heavy music with concept behind it. The riffs are there, the impact is there, but there is also a bigger conversation happening underneath the noise. “INTELL-I-GENTS” feels built around that collision between flesh and machine, emotion and code, freedom and control.

The accompanying music video, directed by Vicente Cordero of Industrialism Films and co directed by Black, brings that tension to life visually, leaning into the unsettling space between humanity and a digital world that is moving faster than most people can keep up with.

APOCÆLYPSE also comes armed with a seriously powerful lineup. Alongside Ira Black is his son, guitarist Ira Black IV, whose classical training and technical firepower add another level to the band’s sound. The family connection gives the project an extra dynamic as two generations of musicianship meet inside this heavy, futuristic framework.

Rounding out the band are bassist Matt Snell, formerly of Five Finger Death Punch, and drummer Lonny Pasillas, formerly of Deadsett and Kill Devil Hill. Together, the lineup brings decades of experience while still pushing forward with something that feels new, ambitious and hungry.

The production team behind “INTELL-I-GENTS” only adds more weight to the debut. The track was produced and mixed by Kane Churko, known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne, Five Finger Death Punch and Disturbed, giving the song that massive modern metal punch while keeping its industrial and electronic elements sharp and clear.

Mastering was handled by Maor Appelbaum, whose credits include Rob Halford, Testament and Sabaton. The result is a track that sounds huge, polished and heavy enough to land with real force.

“INTELL-I-GENTS” is the first of several singles planned throughout the summer as APOCÆLYPSE prepare to unveil their debut album. The upcoming ten song record is expected to arrive across digital platforms later this year, with more music videos, live appearances and touring plans to be announced in the coming months.

For Ira Black, APOCÆLYPSE feels like more than just another project. It feels like a creative reset. A chance to step into the centre, speak through a new voice and build something that reflects both his history and his vision for the future.

With its mix of modern metal force, industrial atmosphere, cinematic scope and fearless subject matter, APOCÆLYPSE arrive with plenty to say and more than enough power to make people listen.

“INTELL-I-GENTS” is out now, and if this is the first transmission, then the full APOCÆLYPSE is shaping up to be something well worth keeping on the radar.
