August Burns Red – Season Of Surrender Australian Tour 2026
With I Promised The World, The Gloom In The Corner & Fallweather
The Gov, Adelaide | 29 September 2026
A Night of Legacy and the New
What a wicked night!
The Gov is always a busy-body machine, with people in and out everywhere, and Tuesday night was no different. I reckon I got there too early, rocking up at 5:30 PM to see the long line of longtime, committed VIP fans already waiting.
The atmosphere, as always, was awesome and ready to go. I wasn’t actually too sure what I was getting myself into with the opening bands, but wow, was it a pleasant experience!
Familiar faces, new faces, and the energy was about to explode.
Fallweather
Holy fuck! This was way heavier than what I originally thought.
Fallweather smashed through their opening with some seriously heavy energy, immediately pulling me into the night.
I’m not even sure what to say. There was this beauty in the lead singer’s voice against the brutal HxC sound that worked so bloody well. These guys did an awesome job reeling me into the whole night, especially as this kind of music sits right amongst some of my favourite genres.
The crowd was extremely engaged, singing along and throwing their entire bodies around with windmills and thrashing in true hardcore fashion.
It was an honour. Y’all are genuinely awesome, and it was great to see!
The Gloom In The Corner
The Gloom In The Corner brought a different kind of attack again. Heavy on the kick and tough through the vocals, their sound is just crazy.
It pulled you close into this destructive madness!
As the lead singer’s voice echoed through The Gov, even the people sitting toward the back started getting into it. My whole body was vibrating through this sea of metalheads.
The vibe was wicked!
Lights of every colour exploded around us while extreme chugs mixed with double kicks, ripping slowly into time and keeping the crowd constantly on their toes.
With every song, you could feel a switch in the mood, with the lighting giving their set its own emotion.
You guys were dope as hell.
Hardcore name too!
I Promised The World
Not even thirty seconds into their set and a pit exploded in every direction, in all its grace.
This six-piece went absolutely mental on every front: mind, body and soul. Purple lights immediately washed over the stage in this almost ethereal style, setting the mood for what followed.
At points, it was genuinely soul-crushing.
The screeches, the sound and the emotion hit home for the whole crowd. It was clear as day just how much passion these guys were putting into what they were doing, and it was bloody inspiring.
By the middle of the set, I genuinely had to put my book away because things had become so crazy. The crowd couldn’t sit still or even give itself a moment to breathe.
Absolutely fantastic job.
August Burns Red
Then came the legendary August Burns Red.
Everyone had their phones out recording the moment the lights went down.
Orange and yellow lights flooded across the crowd as the double kicks started ramping up, and suddenly everything was moving.
Each cog in this machine was turning at its absolute limit, with every member showing exactly why August Burns Red have built the legacy they have.
I genuinely couldn’t find a space where I could properly view the band. The place was packed from every angle, and honestly, that made it even better. The passion in that room was undeniable and unstoppable.
August Burns Red have spent decades pushing their melodic metalcore sound across the world, sharing stages with all sorts of bands while keeping their own work heavy, tight and methodical.
Live, those fast, heavy chugs just rip straight through you.
And thanks heaps for the Adelaide song, by the way. That was pretty bloody cool!
Legacy, Passion and One Hell of a Night
Across the whole night, there was nothing but energy, passion and legacy being continued.
People of all ages gathered together to thrash out with some absolutely crazy momentum. It was great seeing everyone out and about, sharing the same interest and getting completely lost in the music.
The heaviness, the vibe and the overall night were totally awesome.
I had a wicked time, and I know you all did too!
May The Riffs Guide You.
Mr Doom, Out! 🤘
