There are some band returns that feel bigger than just new music, and for Voyager, this is definitely one of them.
After everything the Perth progressive pop metal favourites have been through since 2023, hearing that the band are back, playing shows again and now releasing brand new music carries a completely different kind of weight.
Voyager have unveiled their new single “Secret”, marking another major step in a comeback that once felt far from certain. The track arrives ahead of the band’s upcoming Australian Through Storms and Stars shows this November, following a huge return to the stage throughout 2026.
A Return That Once Felt Uncertain
Voyager’s momentum following Eurovision was enormous, but in September 2023 everything changed when frontman Danny Estrin was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
The band were forced to cancel their international touring plans and step away from what had been an incredible upward trajectory. For a long time, the future was unknown, with questions around touring, the band itself and even whether Danny would be able to sing again.
For fans who had followed Voyager for years, and for the huge number of people who discovered them through Eurovision, it was devastating news. The response from that community was equally enormous, with an outpouring of support for Danny and the band throughout what became an incredibly difficult period.
That makes what has happened throughout 2026 feel even more significant.
Voyager are back.
The band returned to the stage in Europe this year with their new An Evening With Voyager format, performing in Tilburg and London before appearing at Radar Festival and then heading to the United States to headline ProgPower USA.
Now, with Australian shows approaching, they have another major milestone to celebrate with the arrival of brand new music.
Voyager Unlock “Secret”
“Secret” sees Voyager leaning back into some of the elements that have always made them instantly recognisable, with big melodies, heavy grooves, a strong 80s influence and, naturally, some seriously big guitar work.
Danny Estrin says:
“Secret is a return to classic Voyager 80s melodies, big grooves and big solos; we are so excited to unleash this banger of a track onto the world. What’s the secret? Only Voyager knows and we’re not telling you..”
That sounds about right.
Voyager have always had this ability to balance bright, uplifting melody against something more melancholic underneath, and that contrast has become one of the strongest parts of their identity. They can make something sound huge, colourful and energetic while still carrying genuine emotional weight.
After the journey of the last few years, that combination arguably means even more now.

After everything surrounding the band over the last few years, these shows are not going to feel like standard tour dates. There is history attached to them now, along with relief, gratitude and the simple fact that Voyager are able to stand together onstage again and do what they do.
That alone is worth celebrating.
Voyager Are Still Voyager
One of the most encouraging parts of this return is that it does not feel like the band are trying to reinvent themselves just because circumstances forced everything to stop.
“Secret” sounds like Voyager remembering exactly who they are, with that mixture of progressive metal, pop hooks, 80s colour, melancholy and massive melody that has always separated them from the pack.
The band remains:
Danny Estrin – Vocals and Keytar
Simone Dow – Guitars
Scott Kay – Guitars
Ashley Doodkorte – Drums
Alex Canion – Bass
There is something pretty powerful about being able to write that lineup down again and know that Voyager are moving forward, not because the last few years did not happen, but because they did.
Final Word
“Secret” would already be worth celebrating as a new Voyager single, but in context, it feels like more than that.
It is another marker on a road back that nobody could be certain would ever reach this point. From cancelled tours and uncertainty surrounding Danny’s health, to European stages, festival appearances, ProgPower USA and now new music with Australian shows ahead, Voyager have managed to turn one of the darkest chapters in their history into the beginning of another one.
And the best part is that they still sound like Voyager, with the big melodies, big grooves and big solos all still very much intact.
At this point, it is just bloody good to have them back.
