Southern sludge group LungBurner have ripped this album straight out of their hearts… or maybe straight out of hell. Dogma is a forty-minute journey that feels like a wild descent into mythology, philosophy, and deeply personal reflection.
The trio behind the chaos, Jens Anderberg on guitar and vocals, Joseph Mills on guitar and backing vocals, and Joshua Broughton on bass, deliver a stoney, doom-soaked, sludge-driven record that hits like a masterclass in heaviness. The riffs alone feel like they could split you in two.
Formed in 2023, LungBurner have already poured their souls into six singles and two albums, and now with Dogma, their third release, they hit with serious weight. And oh my god… it resonated with my soul.
“Rapture” wastes no time setting the tone. The opening swings through your brain in a way that’s hard to explain, there’s beauty, melody, and then a crushing barrage of guitar that hits like a machine gun. Easily one of my favourite tracks on the album.
Then comes “(Bhajan) The Fall”… and holy shit.
Clocking in at six minutes and forty-four seconds, this track is pure astral grace. Slow, methodical, almost hypnotic. It grips you and holds you there like heavy chains. There’s a post-apocalyptic atmosphere here that feels straight out of Metro Exodus, bleak, powerful, and strangely beautiful. This one goes beyond perfection.
If you’re into doom and sludge, you’re going to devour this. Every riff, every chug, every crushing moment, it’s all here.
I’ll be needing this album on CD, no question.
This isn’t just an album… it’s an experience.
