“Hurt Beyond Healing” – Single Review
Written by Liam “Mr Doom”
Is that bricks I hear? No! It’s Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy and their new single!
G’day everyone! I’m Mr Doom.
Saying such a wicked name made me feel as if I was opening the gates to hell! Truly, a proper guttural sound, dining my ears with that beautiful twang of the snare.
Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy is a metal/slam/grindcore/experimental band well known for being brutally heavy in their sound, taking inspiration from the anime Neon Genesis Evangelion for their album and single covers.
Their latest track, “Hurt Beyond Healing”, is their most recent addition since 2024. The experimental edge brings us here — their new single, a bricklaying, chaos-fuelled assault. After five releases and six years of work, they continue to grow with flying colours.
This isn’t just another single — it’s two minutes and thirty-three seconds of thought-out demise, driven by Jesse Agiomamitis on vocals, Alice Simard on guitar, and Popu, the wizard behind the drum machine.
From their previous work, this is definitely a new pathway in their experimental direction. Could this be another point of exploration for Onchocerciasis Esophagogastroduodenoscopy? Or a new edge to push them further into the game?
We hope to hear more in their bricklaying, head-spinning future.
May the riffs guide you. Mr Doom out!
