“Verjugarðar / Walls” is a triumph in dark cathartic soundscaping, and that feels like the perfect way to frame it. This is Eivør in that deep emotional space she inhabits so well, where atmosphere, voice and feeling all move together like something elemental.

Lyrically, the song sits between lament and hope. It looks at the silence that can grow between two people, and the emotional walls that rise when love, connection and understanding begin to fracture.

Eivør reflects:

“Verjugarðar / Walls is an epic and dark electronic rock ballad about two people who have lost what once bound them together behind walls of silence.

The paradox is that the walls we build to protect ourselves can also be the very walls that keep us apart. This is one of those songs that took me a few years to write, but when it suddenly fell into place, I just couldn’t stop singing it.”

That idea of protection becoming distance is something that gives the track a real human ache. The walls we build often start as survival. They can be a way to guard the softest parts of ourselves, to keep pain out, to keep from being hurt again. But sometimes those same walls become the thing that keeps love, healing and honesty from getting back in.

That is the space “Verjugarðar / Walls” lives in.

It is dark, cinematic and deeply felt, but it also carries that devotional thread of hope. Eivør has always had a remarkable ability to make music that feels ancient and modern at the same time, and this new single continues that pull between the intimate and the vast.

Following the previously released “Drekafljóð / Dragon Maiden”, “Verjugarðar / Walls” adds another layer to what Tungl is shaping up to become.

Tungl, a Faroese word for “moon”, sees Eivør reaching further into elemental realms than ever before. Across its 10 tracks, the album is described as immersive, unmoored and steeped in time-stretched drama, moving through spaces where familiar markers give way and an inner compass begins to emerge.

There is something incredibly fitting about that moon imagery for Eivør. Her music has always carried a kind of tidal pull, something that feels connected to nature, memory, spirit and emotional instinct. With Tungl, that energy seems to be expanding into a wider journey of navigation, self-belief and rejuvenation during uncertain times.

Whether you are already deeply embedded in Eivør’s ever-growing world, or still waiting to fall under its spell, Tungl is shaping up as a far-reaching journey of discovery.
