Beartooth are stepping into another massive chapter, and Australia is firmly part of the ride.
The Ohio heavy rock force will release their upcoming new album Pure Ecstasy on August 28 via Fearless Records. Ahead of the album, Beartooth have shared their new single “Eyes Closed”, a huge, emotionally charged track that captures the chaos of life changing faster than you can process it.

Written, recorded and largely produced by frontman Caleb Shomo, Pure Ecstasy finds Beartooth pushing further than ever before. Shomo remains the singular creative force at the centre of the band, but this time around the process also opened up to select collaborations, including work with Jordan Fish, known for his work with Bring Me The Horizon, Halsey and Good Charlotte.
That added creative energy has helped shape a record that looks set to balance massive hooks, crushing heaviness and some of Beartooth’s most adventurous songwriting to date.
“Eyes Closed” brings that into focus.
Built around huge riffs, cathartic screams and one of Shomo’s most vulnerable performances yet, the track deals with fear, uncertainty and the determination to keep moving forward even when you cannot clearly see what comes next.
Speaking about the song, Shomo says:
“There are so many fun riffs to play on Eyes Closed. It felt incredible to scream it out and let go. The song was written from the ground up with Jordan, and the moment it was a demo, we knew we had something special.”
That sense of release has always been a huge part of Beartooth’s power.
Since emerging from Shomo’s Ohio basement in 2013, Beartooth have turned anxiety, depression, anger, self-destruction and survival into modern heavy anthems that fans have clung to around the world. Their music has always carried that feeling of someone dragging the darkest parts of themselves into the light and turning them into something people can scream back together.
With Pure Ecstasy, that emotional honesty seems to be expanding into something even bigger.
The album follows the success of 2023’s The Surface, which debuted at number one on Billboard’s Alternative and Hard Music charts and produced the number one rock radio hits “Might Love Myself” and “I Was Alive”. That album pushed Beartooth into a new creative and commercial space, but Pure Ecstasy looks set to go even further.
Alongside “Eyes Closed”, previously released tracks “Free” and the title track “Pure Ecstasy” have already started to show the shape of the record. These songs feel both monumental and deeply human, written for longtime outsiders and iconoclasts while also opening the door to a wider audience.
Beartooth have also shared “Bullshit”, adding another piece to what is shaping up to be one of the band’s boldest album cycles yet.
What makes Pure Ecstasy especially interesting is the shift in how it was created.
While Shomo has long been known for building Beartooth from the ground up himself, this record is described as bigger and more collaborative than any previous Beartooth album. Early songwriting contributions from Skyler Accord, known for work with Issues, Twenty One Pilots and Bilmuri, helped shape the early material, while working with Jordan Fish pushed Caleb into an even rawer level of self-examination.
The band itself also played a larger role than ever before.
Bassist Oshie Bichar, guitarists Zach Huston and Will Deely, and drummer Connor Denis have developed into a powerful live unit around Shomo, and that energy has carried into the recording process. Pure Ecstasy also marks the first Beartooth album where Shomo did not perform every instrument himself, with Denis performing drums across the record during sessions at NRG Recording Studios.
That feels like a major moment in the Beartooth story.
This is still very much Caleb Shomo’s emotional world, but it is now being pushed, strengthened and expanded by the people around him. The result appears to be a Beartooth album that holds onto the raw honesty fans connect with, while also reaching for something broader, bigger and more fearless.
Beartooth will support Pure Ecstasy with the massive Pure Ecstasy World Tour, beginning in Europe on September 17 before heading through North America from November. The North American leg includes major stops at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom and The Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, with Don Broco, Magnolia Park and Windwaker joining as special guests across those dates.
Then in January 2027, Beartooth will bring the Pure Ecstasy era to Australia for a national headline tour with special guests Fit For A King and Volumes.

From gold-certified anthems like “Hated” to the platinum-certified “In Between”, over 1.3 billion global streams, sold out tours and a recent arena run supporting Bad Omens, Beartooth have become one of the defining names in modern heavy music.
But Pure Ecstasy feels like more than just another step forward.
It feels like a band taking everything that has worked before, cracking the process open, and finding new ways to turn fear, uncertainty and pain into something explosive.
