Rising from the New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut heavy music underground, Another Demon are quickly establishing themselves as a serious force within modern thrash. Built from a lineup of seasoned musicians with deep roots in hardcore and metal, the band brings together experience, precision, and a shared drive to create something both familiar and forward pushing.
At the core of the band is guitarist and primary songwriter Frank Tosi, whose approach to riff writing blends classic thrash intensity with a sharper, more atmospheric edge. Alongside him, the band’s lineup draws from decades of experience across the heavy music spectrum, giving Another Demon a foundation that feels grounded in tradition while still evolving into something distinctly their own.
As part of that momentum, Brett “ParMetal” Parmenter caught up with Frank Tosi for CRANNK, diving into the band’s origins, songwriting approach, and the creative vision behind their debut EP. That conversation reinforces what becomes immediately clear when listening to the record, this is a band with direction, intent, and something to prove.

Their EP As Above So Below is a dark and aggressive release built on heavy riffing, fast pacing, and a strong sense of atmosphere. While rooted firmly in thrash, the record pulls in elements of death metal and dynamic shifts that keep the listening experience intense and engaging from start to finish. It is not just a collection of tracks, but a cohesive statement that balances chaos with control.
Lyrically, the EP explores themes of horror, punishment, inner conflict, and duality. Drawing from classic horror imagery, occult concepts, and darker reflections on human nature, the record carries a weight that matches its sonic aggression.
Across the release, each track adds its own dimension to the overall experience. Reduced to Ash leans into horror driven chaos inspired by The Evil Dead, while Deaf Gods tackles the collapse of faith and the consequences of blind belief. Skull Vessel pushes deeper into ritualistic and occult territory, adding a darker and more atmospheric layer to the record’s identity.
Drawn and Quartered stands as one of the EP’s defining moments, delivering a brutal and unrelenting pace while painting a vivid picture of historical punishment, further elevated by a guest appearance from legendary guitarist James Murphy. War March shifts into a more commanding and ominous space, driven by themes of power and destruction, before the title track As Above So Below closes the release with a broader, more expansive sound that ties the entire EP together.
Beyond the music itself, Another Demon’s story adds another layer to their rise. With roots in the New York hardcore and metal scenes, the band carries a lineage that includes connections to acts like Sick Of It All and H2O, while also bringing in international influence through guitarist Jun Takeshita’s background in the Japanese thrash scene.
Their journey has already seen them take on unique live opportunities and festival appearances across the Northeast, building a reputation for intensity and commitment. That dedication was perhaps best highlighted when Frank Tosi performed through a full set with a broken finger, reinforcing the band’s mindset that no matter the circumstances, the show goes on.
Looking forward, Another Demon are already deep into work on their next full length release, with plans to expand their sound even further. With hints of major collaborations and a continued evolution of their identity, the band is positioning itself for the next step beyond As Above So Below.
