SHAVROCK Talk Debut Album Hope Found Me, Influences & Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal | Crannk Interview

Released digitally earlier this month and now available physically via Deko Records, Hope Found Me is a 12-track showcase of Shavrock’s dynamic sound. Produced by none other than Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal (ex–Guns N’ Roses), who also laid down guest guitar solos on “Kaleidoscope” and “Amen,” the album blends rich vocal harmonies, acoustic textures, and blues-soaked electric leads with a modern rock edge.

From the deeply personal “The Boy I Used to Be” to the soulful ache of “Empty Cup” and the uplifting title track, Shavrock take listeners on a journey of reflection, struggle, and ultimately hope. As Bumblefoot himself put it:

“Shavrock write beautiful songs. They’re great storytellers. Picture a foundation of acoustic guitar with Simon and Garfunkel vocals, add a melodic rock band like Daughtry / Creed to the mix, and lots of bluesy-rock Slash-type melodies and solos — that’s Shavrock.”

It’s a description that nails the heart of what Nick and Akiva have created — a sound that feels familiar yet refreshing, rooted in classic influences but undeniably their own.

Brothers in Rock

What struck both Jim and I during the conversation was the unique chemistry between Nick and Akiva. Growing up together, their musical paths often intertwined but also diverged, each bringing their own influences and styles to the band. That duality is part of what gives Shavrock its voice — Nick’s soaring vocals and rhythm work weaving seamlessly with Akiva’s lead guitar and harmonies.

They spoke with us about their earliest inspirations, the challenges and rewards of working together as siblings, and how drummer Yoffi Storch became the missing piece that solidified the lineup.

Working with Bumblefoot

Of course, a huge part of this album’s story is Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal’s involvement. Beyond producing, his mentorship and musicianship elevated the band’s vision. Both brothers spoke candidly about what it was like having someone of his caliber guide them through the process — from song selection to arrangement to capturing the emotional core of each track.

Looking Ahead

With Hope Found Me now out in the world, Shavrock are gearing up for the next chapter. Whether that means hitting the road, dropping videos, or continuing to spread their message of positivity and reflection, one thing is certain — these guys are only just getting started, and this debut feels like the beginning of something much bigger.

Final Thoughts

Our chat with Nick and Akiva was one of those conversations that reminds you why we love doing this. It’s not just about the riffs or the records — it’s about the passion, the stories, and the way music connects us.

Hope Found Me is an album worth sitting with — it’s thoughtful, emotional, and packed with great songs that will resonate with fans of classic rock, melodic hard rock, and heartfelt storytelling.

A huge thanks to Nick and Akiva for taking the time to chat with us, and to Jim Taylor for co-hosting this one with me. Make sure you check out the full interview on our YouTube channel and grab a copy of Hope Found Me wherever you stream or spin your music.
