Anggrath Erupts: Adelaide’s Freshest Heavy Beast Goes for the Throat

Adelaide’s underground spat up something loud, raw, and writhing recently, and I had the pleasure of letting it crawl across my desk — Anggrath, the newest death-metal creature stalking South Australia. You might’ve heard their debut single “Turn You Into Taxidermy” ripping through the digital void, all teeth and panic, or maybe you caught them blasting the paint off the walls at Southern Death Fest. Either way, these lads are not creeping onto the scene — they’re detonating into it.

I dragged them into a KillerTube interview to crack open the skull of this band and see what’s slithering around inside. What I found was a trio dead-set on carving their own corner into the Adelaide heavy scene with a sound that hits like a drunk bar-brawl between old-school death metal and the frantic energy of a young band with something to prove.

They talked origins, chaos, riffs sharp enough to take fingers off, and the strange magic of being a brand-new band in a city that loves its metal loud, fast, and unrepentant. With only one song officially out, Anggrath already feels like they’re revving the engine for something bigger, nastier, and gloriously unhinged.

If you want to see the birth of a new SA heavy hitter, get in early. Anggrath is coming in hot — and trust me, they’re only just sharpening the knives.

This is the gospel.
I bite crowd surfers.
killer.
