WORMROT Detonate with ‘TNT’ and Return to Australia for a Grindcore Masterclass | Crannk Interview with Arif

Words by Jai That Aussie Metal Guy // Crannk.com

Singapore’s grindcore juggernaut WORMROT are back—and they’ve brought the full force of chaos with them.

After a brief hiatus and lineup shakeup, the legendary trio have reunited in their original form—Arif (vocals), Rasyid (guitar), and Fitri (drums)—and dropped a fresh slab of sonic warfare in the form of their brand-new album TNT, which exploded onto the scene on May 30.

Released independently, TNT is everything the underground has come to worship about WORMROT and more—raw, frenzied, unrelenting, yet surprisingly nuanced. It’s a record that doesn’t just revisit the band’s early rage from Abuse or Dirge—it refines it, reloads it, and launches it straight into your face. Clocking in at just under 20 minutes, TNT is a relentless statement: WORMROT are not just back, they’re sharper, louder, and more dangerous than ever.

As part of this triumphant return, WORMROT will be joining grindcore legends PIG DESTROYER for an Australian tour this September, hitting some of the country’s best heavy venues. With a set packed full of TNT material and classics that helped shape the global grindcore movement, this tour is one not to miss.

🇦🇺 Australian Tour Dates (WORMROT Appearing)

  • Sept 4 – Adelaide, Lion Arts Factory w/ Meth Leppard
  • Sept 5 – Melbourne, Max Watts w/ Tongue Scum
  • Sept 6 – Sydney, The Factory Theatre w/ Crown Street Militia
  • Sept 7 – Canberra, The Baso w/ Blight Worms
  • Sept 9 – Brisbane, The Triffid w/ Awful Noise

⚠️ Note: WORMROT will not be appearing at the Perth, Townsville, or New Zealand dates.

I had the absolute pleasure of catching up with Arif for an exclusive Crannk video interview where we dove deep into the making of TNT, the emotions behind the reunion, the grind philosophy that fuels WORMROT’s fire, and their excitement about returning to Australia. We also threw in a rapid-fire round and some never-before-asked questions that gave a raw, fun look at one of the most intense vocalists in extreme music.
