Perth emo-pop-rock sweethearts Those Who Dream share the second single, IT SURROUNDS, off their long-awaited EP ‘Therapy Machine‘, out next Friday October 18. Pre-orders are live now via 24Hundred. Those Who Dream will head out on a headline tour of the East Coast next weekend to launch the EP live – tickets on sale now via Destroy All Lines.
The pairs sophomore EP welcomes an all star team of creatives, produced and mixed in house by vocalist Josh Meyer (who’s credits include The Amity Affliction, AViVA, Chez) with a master by the legendary Ted Jensen (Green Day, Deftness, Post Malone). Blending alternative rock, punk, emo, pop and soul, the forthcoming extended play sees Those Who Dream level up on all fronts as they moving towards the release of their most realised collection of tunes yet.
Second single IT SURROUNDS follows on from leading single Mannequin, an anthem for the unapologetically authentic. The latest single targets the lack of support musicians receive from industries that claim to aid and empower when the reality is quite the opposite. “The creative industry is one of the most underfunded, overlooked industries I can think of,” explains vocalist Josh Meyer. “Whether it’s lack of government funding towards creative arts, artists forced to give up music or take on double jobs to fuel their creativity, venues taking merch cuts, Spotify pulling back on revenue streams or airlines making travel a nightmare for every touring artist. Everybody consumes art, but as soon as that industry cries for help it falls on deaf ears.
“People need creatives in the same way they need sunshine to feel awake. IT SURROUNDS is a heavy reminder that if we don’t start nurturing this fragile industry, the world will loose a valuable lifeline, and nobody will understand the weight of that until it’s too late.”
