The Gloom In The Corner’s “Assassination Run” Marks the Bloodstained Return of Sherlock A. Bones

Brace yourself for a return from the depths of The Gloom Universe — Melbourne’s own The Gloom In The Corner have unleashed their snarling new single “Assassination Run”, a venomous and cinematic masterstroke that reintroduces the band’s demonic outlaw, Sherlock A. Bones, to their sprawling mythos.

Accompanied by a macabre music video directed by Sam Kriesel, Assassination Run is everything that makes The Gloom In The Corner one of Australia’s most creative forces in modern metalcore — caustic riffs, pummelling drums, dynamic storytelling, and Mike Arthur’s commanding vocal presence anchoring it all in glorious, bloodstained fury.

The Gloom crew shared:

“Calling all cowboys, cowgirls, assassins and rogues – Sherlock A. Bones is back in The Gloom In The Corner’s new single ‘Assassination Run’. The band’s titular demonic mascot is back and on the hunt for those who have wronged him after the death of a close friend in the story, and the cowboy takes no time enacting out his vengeance.”

Introduced in 2016’s debut album Fear Me and solidified in 2019’s Flesh & Bones, Sherlock A. Bones remains one of the most iconic antiheroes in heavy music lore — a skull-faced demon embodying narcissism, vengeance, and the darker reflections of humanity.

Now resurrected for 2025, Assassination Run delivers the next violent chapter in The Gloom Cinematic Universe, tying into the aftermath of The Jericho Protocol (2024), which ventured deep into the afterlife of Rachel Barker while unleashing haunting, operatic breakdowns that blurred the line between theatre and chaos.

Australia’s Cinemacore Architects

Blending the narrative weight of a graphic novel with the sonic intensity of extreme metal, The Gloom In The Corner continues to redefine what metalcore can be. Their signature cinemacore approach has built them an international following and a reputation for storytelling that’s as gripping as it is devastating.

From supporting Asking Alexandria, Wage War, Ice Nine Kills, and Fit For A King, to storming stages at Good Things Festival and UNIFY Gathering, The Gloom In The Corner have proven their firepower on every front.

In 2025, the band conquered North America alongside AngelMaker, tore through Australia with Make Them Suffer, and will soon close out the year touring Europe and the UK with Aviana.

And as if that wasn’t enough, 2026 will see The Gloom In The Corner join Parkway Drive, Northlane, and more aboard Hellbound — the first-ever Australian heavy metal cruise.

It’s not just music anymore — it’s a mythology.
