Swedish power metal titans Sabaton are gearing up to unleash a brand-new chapter in their storied career with the release of their highly anticipated 11th studio album, Legends, out October 17 via Better Noise Music. The record not only marks their debut with the label but also signals a bold evolution in the band’s storytelling – diving deep into the lives of history’s greatest warriors, leaders, and icons.
Across 11 thunderous tracks, Legends takes fans on a global journey through time, channeling the spirit of Jeanne d’Arc, Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte, Miyamoto Musashi, and more. It’s a Sabaton album through and through – battle hymns carved from blood and legacy – but with a new depth, as this marks the very first time that every member of the band contributed to the songwriting process. The result is Sabaton at their most relentless, unbound, and united.
The First Salvos – Four Singles, Four Legends
Sabaton have already given their legions of fans a taste of what’s to come. The campaign began with “Templars” and “Hordes of Khan”, two epic tracks that set the tone with choral firepower and historical grandeur. More recently, the band dropped a double release with “Lightning at the Gates”, inspired by Hannibal’s legendary tactics, and “The Duelist”, a razor-sharp ode to the famed Japanese swordmaster Miyamoto Musashi. Each song not only captures the essence of these historical figures but also demonstrates Sabaton’s uncanny ability to fuse education with metal spectacle.
“Legends have always been woven into our music,” says frontman Joakim Brodén. “With Heroes we celebrated acts of bravery in more recent history, but this time we go much further back – to the Middle Ages, to empires and conquerors, to the stories that shaped civilizations. It’s a natural next step, but also something fresh and exciting for us as songwriters.”
A Collector’s Dream
For fans who treasure physical music, Legends is being released in a dizzying array of formats – CD, digibooks, earbooks, cassettes, and no fewer than 11 unique vinyl editions, each tied to one of the legendary figures depicted on the album. This approach isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about storytelling. Each vinyl tells its own tale, giving collectors a chance to hold history in their hands.
Sabaton Return Down Under
On the eve of Legends’ release, Sabaton will march once again on Australian shores, joined by fellow Swedes Amaranthe. The tour kicks off September 1 in Perth before hitting Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, with two massive shows in Auckland, New Zealand.
For Australian fans, this run is especially significant – they’ll be among the first in the world to hear new tracks from Legends live. If Sabaton’s past tours here are anything to go by, audiences can expect a full-throttle assault of pyrotechnics, singalong choruses, and the kind of historical metal theatre that has made them one of the most celebrated live acts in the world.
“Australia always brings the energy,” Brodén says. “We can’t wait to debut some of these new songs for you all – it’s going to be a tour to remember.”
The March of Sabaton Continues
From small clubs in Sweden to sold-out arenas across the globe, Sabaton’s rise has been built on tireless work, powerful storytelling, and a unique devotion to their fans. With Legends, they’re not just looking back at the past – they’re forging their own legacy for the future.
For those ready to join the battle, Legends is out October 17. Pre-orders are live now at sabaton.lnk.to/legendsbio.
