Technical death metal architects REVOCATION are back with a vengeance, ready to drop their latest full-length sonic onslaught, New Gods, New Masters, on September 26th via Metal Blade Records. Following the critical acclaim of 2022’s Netherheaven, the band has sharpened their blade for this blistering new chapter — delivering nine searing tracks that fuse brutality, precision, and lyrical depth in ways only REVOCATION can.
Helmed by guitarist/vocalist Dave Davidson, this marks their fifth album with Metal Blade and sees REVOCATION evolving yet again. New members Harry Lannon (rhythm guitar, backing vocals) and Alex Weber (bass) inject the band with fresh firepower, while longtime drummer Ash Pearson continues to crush behind the kit. “It’s been a pleasure ripping with those guys… I’m always refining my craft and trying to get better,” says Davidson.
🔥 The Concept: New Gods, New Dystopias
Thematically, New Gods, New Masters explores humanity’s eternal drive for belief systems. Davidson dives into the dangers of modern idolatry: “As science evolves, the old gods become obsolete. But we replace them with new ones — from worshipping tech to idolizing innovators. AI fascinates me, but it also terrifies me… Are we headed toward dystopia or annihilation?”
🎥 NEW SINGLE: “Cronenberged” ft. Jonny Davy (Job For A Cowboy)
Unleashed with the announcement is the absolutely pulverizing new single “Cronenberged”, featuring the guttural might of Jonny Davy (Job For A Cowboy). Inspired by legendary sci-fi horror filmmaker David Cronenberg and an extra nod to Rick & Morty, the track tackles a “science experiment gone wrong” with relentless riffs and grotesque imagery.
“The video is a mini sci-fi horror movie loaded with gore and practical effects. Transforming into a hideous tentacle monster? Sign me up! The crew was gagging behind the scenes — mission accomplished!” — Davidson
