NECRONOMICON EX MORTIS have once again summoned the undead spirit of classic horror with their latest single, “Chopped Up and Burned,” the newest offering from their forthcoming EP Zombie Blood Nightmare — due out February 20, 2026.
True to their horror-obsessed, thrash-fueled ethos, “Chopped Up and Burned” might just be the band’s most over-the-top descent into madness yet. Clocking in at a relentless seven minutes, the track is a death-thrash masterclass — merging razor-sharp riffing, blistering drums, and guttural ferocity into one gory, glorious assault.
Inspired by Sam Raimi’s cult classic The Evil Dead, the track feels like a blood-splattered rampage through the woods with chainsaw in hand — gruesome, unrelenting, and dripping with cinematic chaos.
Adding even more firepower, the single features two monstrous guest solos from Matthew Mills and Jeff Young (ex-MEGADETH), each slicing through the mix with shred-fueled precision and fury. The result? A track that doesn’t just reference horror — it becomes horror.
“Chopped Up and Burned” was produced, recorded, and mixed by Charlie Waymire at Ultimate Studios and mastered by Ernesto Homeyer, ensuring every ounce of the band’s technical insanity hits with lethal clarity.
Set to drop on February 20, 2026, Zombie Blood Nightmare promises six tracks of shred-heavy, horror-drenched chaos — a brutal love letter to B-movie gore and extreme metal craftsmanship.
If this single is any indication, Necronomicon Ex Mortis aren’t just keeping the spirit of The Evil Dead alive — they’re resurrecting it, possessed and screaming, straight from the Necronomicon itself. 🔥💀

A bit of trivia. Zombie Blood Nightmare (the title anyway) comes from the movie The Video Dead. The film that plays on the cursed tv that is responsible for the carnage in TVD is called Zombie Blood Nightmare.
