Judo CHOP! – Cosmic EP Review

Judo CHOP! are a six piece band from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. They are known for their high energy music which is mainly a mix of punk and thrash. As songwriters their music could be described as complex and intense.

I’ve been listening to Judo CHOP! since midway through 2021, when the band released their debut EP Shelf Life. It may have only had six songs but they were all bangers and the band had established the sound they were going for.

Judo CHOP! released a new single Fearless on the 7th of March this year (2025) and it seems the band have stuck to their sound.

The song comes in at just under two minutes but it still manages to squeeze in three-part guitar harmonies as well as ups and downs sonically to give us a dynamic piece of music. The music video for this song made it hit harder though.

Another 2 songs were released as singles shortly after with Stranded released on the 20th followed by Conquer on the 28th. Then on the 11th of April Judo CHOP! released a second EP titled Cosmic.

Cosmic is a great follow up to Shelf Life and well worth a listen, Judo CHOP! has offered up more of the same sound and I’m here for it.
