HELLOWEEN’S DANIEL LÖBLE TALKS DRUMS, DYNAMICS & GIANTS & MONSTERS – CRANNK EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW

By Jai That Aussie Metal Guy | Crannk.com

After four decades of pioneering power metal and reshaping the genre’s sonic boundaries, HELLOWEEN are showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, they’re about to unleash what might be their most expansive and ambitious album yet — Giants & Monsters, set for release on August 29th, 2025 via RPM, Reigning Phoenix Music.

To get the lowdown, I sat down for a Crannk video exclusive with none other than Daniel Löble, HELLOWEEN’s long-standing rhythmic powerhouse. Behind the kit since 2005, Daniel’s thunderous and technically masterful drumming has become an integral part of the band’s evolution, especially as they navigate their current “Pumpkins United” era — a lineup that now features three singers, three guitarists, and a chemistry that crackles with creative energy.

During our chat, Daniel opened up about the making of Giants & Monsters — a record that celebrates the band’s 40-year legacy while boldly carving new territory. From blistering openers like Giants on the Run to sprawling epics like Universe (Gravity for Hearts) and ballads like Into the Sun, the album is as diverse as it is massive.

The Drum Kit Trifecta

One of the standout revelations from the interview? Daniel recorded the album’s drum tracks using three different kits, selecting tones and dynamics on a song-by-song basis. That kind of detail and dedication to sonic texture isn’t just rare — it’s elite.

That attention to nuance pays off. Songs like Majestic and Savior of the World feel thunderous and commanding, while tracks like A Little is a Little Too Much flow with groove and tension. There’s a push-pull dynamic throughout the album that mirrors the themes: giants, monsters, love, loss, power, and resurrection.

A Band Reignited

HELLOWEEN’s current lineup isn’t just a throwback to their golden years — it’s a supergroup firing on all cylinders. The chemistry between Kai Hansen, Michael Kiske, and Andi Deris on vocals is electric, and the guitar interplay from Weikath, Sascha Gerstner, and Hansen adds a layered richness to the band’s sound.

But it’s Daniel and bassist Markus Grosskopf who provide the anchor — keeping it tight while allowing the songs to breathe and expand.

Power Metal’s Heart Still Beats

As Giants & Monsters prepares to drop, HELLOWEEN are also gearing up for a massive anniversary world tour, including arena shows across Europe, Asia, and beyond. The recently released Live at Budokan CD/DVD gave fans a taste of what’s to come — and with this new record, the band is poised to dominate once again.

Giants & Monsters will be available in a variety of formats — CD, vinyl, picture discs, cassette, digital, and even an epic Earbook edition.

If the self-titled 2021 comeback was a resurrection, Giants & Monsters is the ascension — a declaration that power metal’s godfathers are not only still here, but they’re bigger, louder, and more epic than ever.
