Emma Näslund (vocals) shares:
“In a world full of chaos, I hope these songs will bring you dance, hope, and lust to resist oppressors.”

FYR follows GAUPA’s highly acclaimed sophomore album Myriad (2022) and sees the band diving deeper into their signature blend of entrancing vocals, stoner grooves, and hypnotic psychedelia. This new chapter, despite being their first as a four-piece, delivers some of their heaviest and most absorbing work yet.

🔥 About GAUPA 🔥

Since the release of their self-titled EP in 2018, Sweden’s GAUPA – which translates to “lynx” in English – have carved out a singular niche within the psychedelic and stoner rock scene. Fusing progressive metal, doom, folk and surreal lyrical storytelling, GAUPA quickly made waves with their 2020 debut Feberdröm, led by the hypnotic voice and mystique of frontwoman Emma Näslund.

In 2021, GAUPA joined the ranks of Nuclear Blast Records, and with the release of Myriad in 2022, the band further expanded their reach. Songs like Exoskeleton (over 1 million streams) and Febersvan (4+ million streams) cemented their global appeal. GAUPA’s dynamic performances have graced stages at Sweden Rock, Hellfest, Wacken, Desertfest, and beyond, including tours with Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats, Blood Ceremony, and Graveyard.

Now, with the departure of founding guitarist Daniel Nygren in 2024, GAUPA step boldly into a new era as a four-piece. The mini-album FYR—named after the Swedish word meaning lighthouse, to set on fire, and the number four—marks both a symbolic and sonic evolution. The record was tracked at Svenska Grammofonstudion in Göteborg and Estethuset Studios in Falun, with mixing duties handled by Karl Daniel Lidén. It’s a thunderous, textured journey through surreal lyricism, riff-heavy grooves, and timeless energy.

Thematically, FYR explores the concepts of time, dreams vs. reality, and the strange edges of perception—drawing inspiration from sci-fi literature, nature, and spirit animals.

Later in 2025, GAUPA will continue their rise with major European festival appearances including Stoomfest (UK), Krach Am Bach (Germany), and Motocultor (France).
