Belgium’s black metal institution ENTHRONED have returned from six years of ritual silence to unleash Raviasamin, the blistering first single from their forthcoming twelfth full-length album Ashspawn, due out December 5 via Season of Mist.
Forged as both autopsy and resurrection, Ashspawn represents a descent into spiritual death and a subsequent rebirth. Raviasamin serves as the gateway into this metaphysical framework—its four and a half minutes twisting between frostbitten riffing, chant-like invocations, and violent rhythmic surges. The result is a track that embodies ENTHRONED’s very essence: blinding velocity, crushing mid-tempo marches, and an esoteric edge sharpened into a sonic weapon.

The accompanying video builds upon the song’s arcane lyrical themes, blending hand-drawn art, sculpted props, and digital sorcery within Unreal Engine. A 3D rendering of Belial (drawn from José Gabriel Alegría Sambogal’s album artwork) and a hand-animated qlippothic tree converge to form a visual ritual, amplifying the band’s signature invocation of shadow and transformation.
Formed in 1993 in Namur, Belgium, ENTHRONED quickly carved out their place as one of Europe’s most relentless black metal forces. From their debut Prophecies of Pagan Fire to their Season of Mist debut Cold Black Suns, the band has continued to evolve—melding feral speed, ritual atmospheres, and uncompromising devotion to the Left Hand Path.
Their journey has been marked by both triumph and tragedy—most notably the death of founding drummer Cernunnos in 1997, whose preserved rehearsal tracks were used to complete Towards the Skullthrone of Satan. Through countless lineup changes, ENTHRONED has remained unwavering in their vision, pushing black metal forward while honouring its roots.
Now, more than 30 years into their reign, Ashspawn marks ENTHRONED’s most ambitious chapter yet. Written in collaboration with occult author Gilles de Laval, the record weaves ritual praxis, metaphysical architecture, and spiritual negation into a towering, transformative statement. Tracks like Raviasamin, Ashspawn, and Ashen Advocacy fuse cathartic violence with crushing introspection, reflecting ENTHRONED’s place as one of black metal’s most visionary entities.
