The enfants terribles of Season of Mist’s roster, EIHWAR, have once again torn open the gates between worlds with their standalone single “Hugrheim”, released today. Known for their explosive collision of Nordic folk ritual and electro-industrial chaos, the duo continue to carve their own path — equal parts fierce, cartoonish, and transcendently primal.
Fresh off a summer that saw them ignite crowds at Wacken Open Air, Resurrection Fest, and Midgardsblot, as well as select shows opening for Mongolian rock warriors The Hu, EIHWAR return with a track that deepens their mythos while amplifying their trance-fueled energy.
The word “Hugrheim”, formed from Old Norse roots, translates loosely as the “realm of spirit” — a dimension of memory, consciousness, and unseen forces. In EIHWAR’s own narrative, band members Ásrunn and Mark channel reincarnated souls inhabiting human vessels, drawing on fragmented visions of past existences. Through “Hugrheim”, they summon these memories with a storm of warrior cries, ritual percussion, horns, and machine-driven pulse, simultaneously honoring pagan folk traditions and propelling them into their own shamanic, celebratory, dance-driven terrain.
The accompanying video, directed by Samuel Maurin, features actors Arya and Benoit Lala, while digital artwork showcases the visionary costuming of Yaelle Ghyselink.

In their own words, EIHWAR explain the origins of this new chapter:
“Over the past few years, our souls have gradually taken over the bodies of two human musicians. Through incarnation, we lost much of our memories. All that remains are images, emotions, and fragments from our previous existence, mixed in with the thoughts and memories of our human hosts. In this new song, we evoke the memories that gradually come back to us: memories of Hugrheim, the tenth world of Yggdrasil, hidden and unknown to men. This world is shaped by the Hugr, the spirit. In this realm dwell the invisible forces of the soul and consciousness. When our vessels perish here and our incarnation ends, we will return to Hugrheim. Still, we hope to remain here as long as possible this time, because nowadays the beer is fucking good, the rockstar life is pretty damn cool, and dental anesthesia actually exists.”
Alongside the single, the band has launched their Travelling Merchant Webshop, featuring four t-shirt designs (including one previously only available at concerts) and the Eihwar Bindrune medallion — described as the “jewelry of the clan” and a symbolic extension of their ritual universe.

Many bands tread the Pagan & Norse path with solemn ritual and atmosphere, but EIHWAR refuse to bow to tradition alone. Instead, they embody a wilder ethos — mixing shamanic drums, trance vocals, and traditional Nordic sounds with cold, powerful electronic steel. They are, as the web has already dubbed them, a kind of “Viking Carpenter Brut”: chaotic, festive, and devoted to sparking the wildest trance on any dancefloor.
EIHWAR’s world is both ancient and futuristic, where ritual meets rave and myth collides with machine. With “Hugrheim”, they’ve once again proved that they are not just another pagan act — they are an unholy celebration, a war party, and a spiritual invocation all rolled into one.
