Formed in 2022, Gorotica are a cannibalistic delicacy from Sydney, Australia. Daily Grind of the Medieval Age is their second full-length release, following on from their debut album Morbid Menagerie in 2022.
Gorotica have unleashed a veritable feast of deathgrind, serving up 18 tracks clocking in at just over 37 minutes. This release brings flavours that combine tasty leads with moreish atmosphere on tracks like “Sage, Clove and Powdered Bone,” palette-cleansing bursts of pure grind with “Rats in a Bucket” and “The Beast Beneath the Rack,” and a slew of strong three-minute meaty slabs throughout.
The real blood pudding here is the masterfully woven short interludes of grind that provide such delicious marbling within the meaty slabs. This aural meal is paired with self-aware and highly produced videos, providing a sumptuous visual side dish to go along with the glut of tracks provided to the listener.
Daily Grind of the Medieval Age is a strong dish with a high flavour profile — highly suitable to get any unfamiliar newcomer into deathgrind, but with rich umami flavours that will surely please even the most seasoned diner of the genre.
