American heavy metal icons Corrosion of Conformity have unleashed their latest single “You Or Me,” another crushing taste of their upcoming double album Good God / Baad Man, set for release April 3 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The blistering new track arrives alongside a striking music video crafted by acclaimed visual artist Costin Chioreanu, with additional footage filmed by director Mike Holderbeast. The result is a dark, hallucinatory visual companion that perfectly matches the track’s heavy, Sabbath-soaked intensity.
Described by Lucifer as “an angry acid trip into the origins of the human condition since the dawn of man,” the track taps into the primal heaviness and groove that have long defined Corrosion of Conformity’s sound.
The band themselves praised Chioreanu’s visual interpretation of the song.
“Deep from within the forests of Romania and the twisted mind of our dear friend Costin Chioreanu comes his twisted visions put to CORROSION’s music. It’s a match made in purgatory. There’s some special additions from Mike Holderbeast’s crew as well.”
A Mammoth Double Album: Good God / Baad Man
“You Or Me” follows the previously released single “Gimme Some Moore,” which featured backing vocals from Ministry’s Al Jourgensen and guitarist Monte Pittman, known for his work with Madonna.
The upcoming record is an ambitious double album, with each half representing a different side of the band’s sonic identity.
Frontman Pepper Keenan explains the concept behind the release.
“As we went on, we had such a crazy plethora of songs, it was almost like two different directions. We knew we had to split it into two different albums.”
He describes Good God as leaning toward the heavier and more aggressive side of the band’s sound, while Baad Man dives deeper into their rock-driven influences.
“Each album is its own tiny universe and has its own identity. Good God leans toward the heavier, pissed end of the spectrum. Baad Man is more on the throwdown rock scope.”
Honouring the Legacy of Reed Mullin
The creation of Good God / Baad Man comes after a difficult period for the band following the passing of legendary drummer Reed Mullin in 2020.
Rather than attempting to replace him outright, the band chose to move forward while honouring his legacy. Former COC drummer Stanton Moore, who previously played on the band’s 2005 album In The Arms Of God, returned behind the kit for the new record.
“With a lot of these songs, we’re trying to make Reed Mullin proud,” says Keenan. “He was a badass, and a one-of-a-kind drummer.”
Joining Moore in the lineup is bassist Bobby “Rock” Landgraf, who previously played alongside Keenan in Down and brings a raw, hard-rocking edge to the band’s latest material.
A Legacy Forged in Heavy Music
Formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1982, Corrosion of Conformity have spent decades shaping the intersection of punk, metal, and Southern sludge.
Their early releases Eye For An Eye (1984) and Animosity (1985) became underground staples before the band broke into wider recognition with Blind (1991) and the iconic Deliverance (1994).
By the time No Cross No Crown arrived in 2018, the band had cemented their place as one of heavy music’s most influential and enduring acts.
With Good God / Baad Man, Corrosion of Conformity appear ready to write another powerful chapter in their legacy.
