The thunder is coming—and it’s bringing a whole lot of rock’n’roll with it.
In this exclusive Crannk Presents video interview, The Bloody Legends Podcast caught up with Stevie Dacanay, lead guitarist of the legendary, hard-hitting rock outfit Buckcherry, to talk all about their explosive new album Roar Like Thunder, due out June 13, 2025, via Round Hill Records.

💥 The Roar Is Real
Following the success of 2023’s Vol. 10, which smashed into multiple charts worldwide—including a #4 position on the UK Rock and Metal Albums Chart—Buckcherry have doubled down with a record that’s loud, unapologetic, and soaked in the swagger fans love.
Recorded once again in Nashville at Sienna Recording Studios, Roar Like Thunder reunites the band with longtime producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Mötley Crüe, Ozzy Osbourne), alongside his son Evan Frederiksen. This trio of creative energy—Marti, Stevie D, and frontman Josh Todd—penned all 10 tracks, which pulse with raw hooks, fierce grooves, and an undeniable live-wire energy.
“It’s the pure, uncut, rock’n’roll music you’ve been jonesing for,” Stevie says in the interview—and it’s hard to argue with that.
⚡ Studio Sparks & Six-String Fire
Stevie dives deep into the album’s creation, from how the riffs came together with Josh and Marti, to tracking the runaway train rhythm of the title track, “Roar Like Thunder.” With standout cuts like the horn-laced “I Go Boom,” and the riff-laden “Blackout,” the album balances grit with groove, and intensity with infectious hooks.
For guitar fans, Stevie also shares some behind-the-scenes insight into the gear, tones, and mindset behind his performance on the record—spoiler: it’s all about vibe, attitude, and keeping that Buckcherry fire burning hot.
“We wanted it to sound like what it feels like on stage,” Stevie says. “That energy, that tension—that ‘let’s light this thing up’ feeling. We brought that into the studio.”
🔥 Rocking Into the Future
With the album mastered by Anthony Focx (Metallica, Aerosmith) and supported by a solidified lineup including Billy Rowe (guitar), Kelly LeMieux (bass), and Francis Ruiz (drums), Roar Like Thunder is more than just a follow-up—it’s a full-tilt charge forward from a band that still lives and breathes rock’n’roll.
And yes—for Aussie fans—Stevie teases possible tour plans as Buckcherry prepare to bring the thunder worldwide once again. Fingers crossed we see them tearing it up on stages down under soon.
