New Jersey post-hardcore veterans Armor For Sleep have returned with There Is No Memory, their latest studio album, out now via Equal Vision Records / Civilians — a release that cuts to the very core of reflection, heartbreak, and human memory.
Following 2022’s emotionally charged The Rain Museum, which explored the aftermath of frontman Ben Jorgensen’s divorce through allegory and concept, There Is No Memory strips away the metaphor to expose the raw, beating heart beneath. It’s a record that dares to sit with the pain, the nostalgia, and the uncomfortable truth of what it means to remember.
Recorded with producer Sam Guaiana (Silverstein, The Devil Wears Prada, Between You and Me), the album captures a more grounded, literal approach to storytelling — where emotional scars become lyrical ink. Jorgensen explains,
“I’ve been taking stock of my life as a whole, and I found myself thinking and writing about the strange experience of memories and the power they have over all facets of who I am.”
Alongside the album, Armor For Sleep also released a stunning new video for “Last Days”, a cinematic reflection on loss, regret, and the echoes of love that never fully fade. Jorgensen describes it as:
“Imagining an ex as an old lady on her deathbed and wondering if she’ll think about what would’ve been if we had stayed together… It’s me admitting that I would sell my soul not to care anymore.”
The visual mirrors the album’s haunting tone — intimate, self-aware, and brutally honest.
The title There Is No Memory came to life in an eerily poetic way. While demoing songs, Jorgensen’s computer crashed, flashing an error message that read “THERE IS NO MEMORY.” What could’ve been a digital glitch became the thematic anchor for an album steeped in loss, reflection, and the fading edges of self.
Each song feels like a photograph fading at the edges — imperfect, powerful, and achingly real. It’s a meditation on the ghosts of our past selves and the fragments of love and pain that continue to shape who we are.
There Is No Memory stands as Armor For Sleep’s most vulnerable and mature work yet — a powerful evolution that solidifies their legacy in the post-hardcore and emo canon.
