Jai “That Aussie Metal Guy” Anderson is the unstoppable force behind Crannk — a passionate music journalist, podcaster, interviewer, and gig photographer with a burning devotion to the global heavy music scene.
Since joining Crannk in April 2017, Jai has built a reputation as one of the most dedicated voices in Aussie metal media. In 2024, he officially took over as Owner and Head Editor, pushing the webzine into new realms while keeping its underground spirit alive and loud.
A true champion of metal, punk, and everything heavy, Jai has conducted over 600 interviews with some of the biggest and most influential names in heavy music — from Fear Factory, Sevendust, Asking Alexandria, to legends like Max Cavalera — and countless up-and-coming artists forging their path.
He’s not just the voice behind the mic — Jai’s also a gig photographer, capturing the raw energy and intensity of live shows with a keen eye and a love for the scene.
Behind it all is a story of resilience. Jai is a stage 4 bowel cancer survivor, a devoted father, and a metal warrior who continues to pour his heart into every interview, feature, and photo.
Whether he’s spotlighting a local band or talking with global icons, Jai brings authenticity, respect, and passion to everything he does. His mission? To amplify heavy music voices that deserve to be heard — from the back streets of Australia to the farthest corners of the global scene.
Crannk it up with Jai – because metal never sleeps.
