Abandon All Hope – Hell//Hopeless: Adelaide Metalcore’s Brutal Reawakening

After a 15-year hiatus, Adelaide’s metalcore homeboys Abandon All Hope are back, kicking down the door with two brand-new, downright devastating tracks, Hell and Hopeless.

From 2006–2011, Abandon All Hope were kicking ass and taking names, releasing two albums,Where Life and Death Meet and their sophomore effort Prowler, receiving high praise from fans and peers alike. Touring with massive bands like The Ghost Inside, and sharing stages with Parkway Drive, Bleeding Through, Despised Icon, Thy Art Is Murder, As I Lay Dying, and many others, the world was their oyster. But not long after the release of Prowler, the band broke up and went their separate ways. Seemingly, Abandon All Hope were done and dusted.

But never say never.

The boys are back, ready to slap you right in the earholes with their brand-spanking-new two-track independent EP, Hell//Hopeless. After listening to these two brain-melting metalcore masterpieces, I can tell you right now, you’re going to be fucking stoked about the reformation of Abandon All Hope.

With the fresh face of Seek Misery’s David McArthur on bass and the return of Chris Whitbread (also of A Night in Texas fame) behind the kit, the rhythm section looks to be going from strength to strength. Abandon All Hope are back and more powerful than ever.

The gut-wrenching growls and salacious screams of Micah Leinonen are driven by the pulverising guitar breakdowns of Shaan Kelly and Jake Battista, making Hell//Hopeless two of the burgeoning great metalcore songs of 2026. It’s like a tease, gimme more, gimme more!

The line-up gels together like milk and Milo to bring us two of the most powerful tracks of the year. Abandon All Hope may have been gone for the last 15 years, but they are coming back with a fucking vengeance. Untapped virility and vicious ferocity, a rancorous rage that has been building for years, finally unleashed.

So throw on your headphones or turn your speakers right up to 11 and shake the very foundations of your house, because the boys from Abandon All Hope are back and firing on all cylinders. Don’t be surprised if this is only the beginning, I get the sneaky suspicion that Abandon All Hope have plenty more up their sleeves.

As for Hell//Hopeless, consider it a wake-up call. Abandon All Hope aren’t going anywhere. The new era has just begun, and this is just a taste of the mayhem to come.

Bravo, boys. Fucking bravo!
