Just in time for the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s iconic thriller Jaws, Canadian alt-rock outfit DOLL have dropped their explosive new single “Shark Bait”, a snarling anthem brimming with primal fear, gritty riffs, and emotional survival.
The Ottawa-based band taps into something dark and visceral on this latest release, combining doom-laden grooves with sharp-edged alt-rock ferocity. Frontwoman Christina Kasper’s haunting, empowered vocals cut through the track like a dorsal fin through murky waters.
“‘Shark Bait’ was a fun song that we came up with after playing around with some hardcore-style riffing and our passion for the Jaws movies,” says Christina. “We’ve always had a strong attraction to shark flicks, and when Pete came up with the chorus riff, it just clicked. It felt so right with the ‘Shark Bait’ vocals—we just went for it.”

⚡ Better Days, Different Times – New EP Out July 18
“Shark Bait” is the second single from DOLL’s upcoming EP, Better Days, Different Times, due out July 18, 2025. Known for their raw and unapologetic rock roots dating back to 2009’s Inside the Dollhouse and 2011’s The Ragdoll Diaries, this latest release showcases a bold sonic evolution.
Christina and guitarist Pete—the heart of DOLL’s songwriting—have expanded their creative reach by collaborating with local Ottawa musicians and experimenting with new textures, including cello arrangements. The result? A richer, more dynamic sound that still hits like a punch to the gut.
For fans of Nobro, SoftCult, Amyl and the Sniffers, and The Pretty Reckless, DOLL delivers gritty alt-rock with an edge of theatricality and emotion—dark, fierce, and unforgettable.
